Younggwang: +84% at 1:30pm on Debut, +28% at the Close

Basis: Nov 2, 2026, 16:33 KST. Market basis: closing prices. The 1:30pm figures are intraday and labeled as such.

Seoul — The KOSPI rose 2.24% to 5,859.08 and the KOSDAQ (Korea's tech- and small-cap-heavy market) gained 1.38% to 734.36 on Monday. Three stocks rose about 30% or close to it, and the strength of their reasons differed. Sempio Foods has a merger filing on record. Younggwang rose on its first trading day, but its gain shrank from 83.82% at 1:30pm to 27.65% at the close. HLB Biostep has no filing and no confirmed reason.

Younggwang (359410): up on its first trading day, but it was +84% at midday

Younggwang recent price and volume

Younggwang rose because Monday was its first day of trading on the KOSDAQ. The 21,700 won close is 27.65% above the offer price by exchange data (some outlets reported 26%). At 1:30pm it was at 31,250 won, up 83.82%, so the close is about 30.6% below that intraday level. Trading value was 1.1164 trillion won, more than five times its 196.5 billion won market cap.

The company has filed nothing separate. The news is company-introduction and outlook coverage. Sisa Journal e's headline said it is mass-producing parts for High-NA EUV, and Edaily and ZDNet Korea reported an expected 80 billion won in sales this year. A News Way headline says a 10 billion won target, so the figures conflict, and the headlines alone do not say which period or segment each covers. Daekyung Economy describes it as an ultra-precision machining and surface-treatment company.

Because it is listing day, there is no prior price to calculate overheating signals from. At the close, buy orders stood at 21,351 shares against 19,064 sell orders. Day-two trading value, the lock-up release date for institutional holders and the number of shares free to trade will show whether this interest lasts.

Sempio Foods (248170): limit-up on a decision to absorb its parent

Sempio Foods recent price and volume

Sempio Foods rose because it decided to absorb its holding company, Sempio. According to DART (Korea's official disclosure system), a material report on the merger decision was filed on Oct 30, along with a correction attachment, a shareholder-meeting convocation and a record-date notice. The exchange also posted a trading halt and halt release that day. Friday's close was up only 0.96%, but on Monday the stock rose 29.86% to 27,400 won, the 30% daily limit. Yonhap News TV reported that Sempio and Sempio Foods both hit the limit.

Blotter reported that expectations of using the holding company's cash for investment, plus a plan to cancel all treasury shares, lifted the stock. Its headline also called appraisal-right buyback demands a possible '60 billion won variable', a figure that is by the press report and not from the filing. The merger itself is documented, but the merger ratio and the size of buyback demands decide what shareholders actually get. We treat the filing as neutral until those terms are checked.

Overheating signals are 2/4: RSI of 81.1 and volume 8.0 times the 20-day average. The gap to the 20-day average (+27.0%) and the 5-day gain (+33.3%) fell short of the thresholds. It sits at 66% of its 52-week range, 11.5% below the 52-week high and 8.6% above the 200-day line. Fundamentals pass 4 of 5 checks (ROE under 10%), though the snapshot may predate the latest quarter. At the close there were no sell orders and 193,844 buy shares (about 5.3 billion won). Trading value was only 3.5 billion won, so the market was thin.

The merger ratio and appraisal-right terms in the report, plus the shareholder meeting date, show how big the benefit is. Whether the limit-up buy backlog holds the next session is also worth watching.

HLB Biostep (278650): no confirmed reason (it moved with HLB group stocks)

HLB Biostep recent price and volume

The reason for HLB Biostep's rise is not confirmed. The company filed nothing in the past seven days, and the coverage only says HLB group stocks rose together. CBC News reported on Oct 30 that HLB jumped more than 10% after the close, and on Monday that the group extended Friday's after-market gains. One Oct 30 headline mentions 'some FDA references', but the headline does not say what they were.

The 6,870 won close is 29.87% above the previous reference price, and 31.4% above Thursday's close of 5,230 won over two days. It was up 24.95% at 1:30pm and rose further into the close. Since Sept 23 (2,530 won) it is up 171.5%. In early October it rose close to 30% three days in a row (Oct 6-8), then fell 15.85% on Oct 12. On Friday, foreign investors net sold 86,100 shares and individuals bought the same amount.

Overheating signals are 0/4 ('normal'): RSI 57.4, volume 1.8 times average, 5-day gain +5.2%, though it is 22.5% above its 20-day average. It sits at 78% of its 52-week range and 47.8% above the 200-day line. Fundamentals pass 1 of 6 checks (loss-making, negative free cash flow, revenue down 10.2%), again possibly before the latest quarter. At the close sell orders stood at 45,382 shares against 7,805 buy orders.

The first thing to check is whether the company or HLB files anything on FDA matters. After that, see whether trading value (22.2 billion won) holds and how the sell backlog clears.
